You Can Make a Difference!

Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere), is a sponsored, non-competitive, all-women’s cycling event. It is a venue created for women of all ages and fitness levels to experience camaraderie, increase awareness of domestic violence through visibility and raise funds for domestic violence programs.

This ride has something for everyone: 12, 25, 42 and 62-mile routes. The first ride in 2008 generated 233 riders and by 2011 participation had grown to 1,115 women and teen registered riders.

In 2011, in response to a call for action driven by community need for expanded outreach, The WAVE Foundation, a separate 501 (c)(3) public charity was established. With that, Cycle the WAVE broadened its mission to “inspire fitness, increase awareness, instill hope and impact domestic violence” across Washington State.

To date, 100% of net proceeds totaling more than $250,000 have been donated to programs serving victims of domestic violence. Those programs include Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) serving East and North King County, DAWN (Domestic Abuse Women’s Network) serving South King County and New Beginnings serving Seattle and North King County.
